Privacy policy
In short: no cookies, no ads, no accounts. Below is exactly what happens to your data.
Who is responsible
The controller is Rostislav, the maker of Flatra (flatra.lv), Rīga, Latvia. For questions and requests: rostikbav@gmail.com.
Cookies
Flatra sets no cookies — not its own, not for ads, not for analytics. That is why there is no cookie banner.
What is kept in your browser
A few things are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choices. They are never sent to us:
- language, light/dark mode, buy/rent and your filters;
- whether you have seen the intro;
- flats you saved or already looked at, and your place in the swipe view;
- the 3D map setting.
You can delete them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
New-flat alerts
If you turn on alerts (the bell in the list), your browser gives us an anonymous push address, and we keep your search with it (place, price, rooms, buy/rent) and your language. No e-mail, no name, no account. Alerts are delivered by your browser's own push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla).
Turning alerts off deletes that record at once; if your browser withdraws the address, we delete it on the next send.
Near me
If you tap “Near me”, your browser (with your permission) tells the page where you are, so it can draw a circle around you on the map. It stays on your device: it is never sent to us or stored.
Linked devices
If you link devices (More → Link devices), our server keeps your saved flats (listing ID, price, address and photo link) under a random secret key that only your devices hold. No name, no e-mail, no account. The short code works for 10 minutes.
What our server sees
Like every web server, ours logs requests: IP address, the page asked for, the time and the browser's name. We use these logs only for security and fixing errors, and they are deleted after 14 days.
To learn whether the site is useful, we count clicks on listings and reports anonymously. No IP address or anything else that could identify you is stored with them.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the site safe and knowing whether it works.
If you write to us
If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply, and delete them when the conversation is over.
Agency permissions
If an agency fills in the form on For agencies, we keep what is entered there (agency, contact person, email, phone, website, feed link) and when, to confirm the permission and to be able to show it was given. We keep it while the permission stands and for three years after it is withdrawn. Basis: our legitimate interest in recording the permission (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
Other services the site loads
Some things your browser loads straight from other services, so they see your IP address:
- Google — the typeface, and Street View only if you open it yourself;
- a map service that draws the map background;
- the listing portals — some flat photos.
Links to other sites lead to pages with their own privacy policies.
Listing data
The listings are public on their portals. We show their price, size, address and photos, with a link to the original. We do not collect or show sellers' contact details. If you are a seller and want a listing or part of it removed, write to us and we will.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict its processing and to object to it. Write to rostikbav@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (dvi.gov.lv).
Where the data lives
The server is in the European Union (Finland). We do not sell data or pass it to third parties.
