In short: no cookies, no ads, no accounts. Below is exactly what happens to your data.
Who is responsible
The controller is Rostislav, the maker of Flatra (flatra.lv), Rīga, Latvia. For questions and requests: rostikbav@gmail.com.
Cookies
Flatra sets no cookies — not its own, not for ads, not for analytics. That is why there is no cookie banner.
What is kept in your browser
A few things are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choices. They are never sent to us:
- language, light/dark mode, buy/rent and your filters;
- whether you have seen the intro;
- flats you saved or already looked at, and your place in the swipe view;
- the 3D map setting.
You can delete them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
What our server sees
Like every web server, ours logs requests: IP address, the page asked for, the time and the browser's name. We use these logs only for security and fixing errors, and they are deleted after 14 days.
To learn whether the site is useful, we count clicks on listings and reports. With a click we keep: what was opened, on which page, the language, and an anonymous ID computed from the IP address and browser with a secret key that changes every day. The IP address cannot be recovered from it, and the next day the same person can no longer be recognised. We do not store IP addresses with clicks. (Your saved flats are still there the next day — your own browser keeps them, not us; see above.)
The legal basis is our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the site safe and knowing whether it works.
If you write to us
If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply, and delete them when the conversation is over.
Other services the site loads
Some things your browser loads straight from other services, so they see your IP address:
- Google — the typeface, and Street View only if you open it yourself;
- a map service that draws the map background;
- the listing portals — some flat photos.
Links to other sites lead to pages with their own privacy policies.
Listing data
The listings are public on their portals. We show their price, size, address and photos, with a link to the original. We do not collect or show sellers' contact details. If you are a seller and want a listing or part of it removed, write to us and we will.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict its processing and to object to it. Write to rostikbav@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (dvi.gov.lv).
Where the data lives
The server is in the European Union (Hetzner, Helsinki, Finland). We do not sell data or pass it to third parties.
